Spirit!League offers children with special needs a way to play team sports in a positive, self-esteem building environment.

Spirit!League is for children who are physically active (ambulatory), and have the emotional ability to participate — but have difficulty keeping up with their peers. We emphasize the learning of basic sports skills and physical fitness for higher functioning but developmentally challenged boys and girls, ages 6-20, in southern Orange County, California. Our mission is to safely help these children develop the skills, knowledge, discipline and confidence necessary to play team sports on their school playgrounds and in their neighborhoods.

Our Players are typically unable to fully participate in team sports due to one of the following challenges:

  • Timidity
  • Obesity
  • Learning disabilities
  • High functioning autism
  • Aspergers
  • Other mild physical & emotional disabilities

Our Advisors:
Kelly McKinnon, Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Programs are co-ed , competitive, and disciplined, offering participants an opportunity to build self-esteem, create friendships, experience teamwork and have lots of fun.

Parent Participation is required. Plan for an enjoyable experience for the entire family where long lasting friendships are formed and everyone has fun and grows.

Founded in 2004, Spirit!League was created by parents of a child with learning and motor skill challenges who had trouble keeping up with his peers on the playground and in the neighborhood. They wanted to provide their child an opportunity to have a “team” experience and compete at his level of ability, in an organized sports league.

The League is a 501(c)(3) public charity - your donations are tax deductible. Our tax identification number is 20-1707223. One of the league's Guiding Principles is Financial Transparency.
